400-way attempts
Today some disappointments and some successes. Beautiful weather greeted us once again this morning, but we discovered trouble with one of the planes only moments before the first sortie. The worry was that we would then be limited to only one load today, but Air Marshall Bunchauy put things back in place in time for us to get another. By early afternoon, we had one very successful practice with the 70-way base using some strong replacements, followed by what we have all waited for.

At around 16:00 we exited as a full team with permission to dock if things looked right. The excitement aroused the best in everyone. A perfect launch of the base followed with the three connectors flying smoothly into position. It wasn’t perfect, but everyone calmly moved in closer and got an even better visual. Now we must cut our set-up distances to half and then half again until we can fly our slots with confidence. |

We are all dealing with minor challenges of head colds, minor scrapes and bruises, and sore muscles affecting our performances or those of our friends. This is normal at this point in the record camp. Within a day or two, we will have recovered and become stronger. And we will have more 400-ways behind us. Then it will happen.
The schedule for tomorrow is three sorties taking full attempts at 400.
