World
Record '10 - 252-way Sequential Skydives
World
Team has a unique opportunity to jump from three C-130s flying
in formation at
high altitudes a full year prior to the
FAI world record attempt. The information on this page addresses
several important issues related to the World Team event in January
2010.
Formation
Size: The
intent is for each event of the Royal Sky Celebration to double
in size from the previous one. The 2011
record formation should be twice as large as the 2010 sequential
dive, and
the
mass
freefall jump should be twice as large as the 2011 record formation.
Since the record formation is targeted to be 500, the sequential
formation
will be 250. Well, 252 to be exact. The actual size
of the dives in 2010 is less important than the information
World Team will be able to learn from them.
Event
Profile:
The Schedule of Events calls
for World Team to be in Udon Thani for nine days. World
Team skydivers are scheduled to make three jumps per day
for seven days straight. On the first
day, all team members will make Prep
Dives consisting of single-ship sorties
with exits from 20,000 feet / 6100 meters. On the next
four days, all team members will jump together on three-ship
sorties
with exits from 24,000 feet / 7300 meters. The final two days
will include Rehearsal Dives to
help World Team prepare for its large formation world record jumps
in 2011. These rehearsal jumps will also be three-ship
sorties with exits from 24000
feet
/ 7300 meters.
Guinness
Book World Record: Following
the prep dives, World
Team will focus on completing the two-point sequential dive
to set a new Guinness Book World Record.
