of Registration Process:
Submitting forms and fulfilling other administrative tasks is not
as much fun as exiting a C-130 Hercules, diving through the wild
blue yonder, and holding hands in freefall with friends from around
the world. However, the better organized World Team is on the ground,
the easier and quicker it will be to start skydiving when the whole
team gets together next January in the Land of Smiles.
All participants of World Team events must officially Register.
Most of the vital information required from each World Team participant
should be provided via the on-line Registration Form. This form
will request information about relevant travel-related documents,
flight itineraries, passports, accompanying personnel, roommate
preferences, apparel sizes, etc. Everyone who registers will be
requested to submit a passport style photo (head-and-shoulders)
for their ID badge.
The
Registration Process for World Team 2010 begins on 1 September 2009.
World Team participants should follow the link at the bottom of
this page to submit their on-line Registration Form.
International
Transportation to/from Bangkok:
All World Team members must provide their own transportation to
Bangkok. There is no official World Team air carrier, but –
if the price is right – World Team members are encouraged
to fly Thailand’s national carrier Thai Airways. Participants
flying from Europe can contact Ronnie
Limborg, who has special rates, including extra baggage allowance,
for World Team members.
All
World Team members should be in Bangkok no later than the official
Arrival Day of 7 January, and leave no earlier than the evening
before the official Departure Day of 18 January 2010.
Please book your flights right away!
Documents:
Passports should be checked for validity through six (6)
months after your departure date from Thailand. Visas are required
by some foreign nationals entering Thailand. Please check with the
Thai Consulate in the country where your passport was issued, as
some rules for Thai Visas have recently changed.
A
valid Sporting/Proficiency License issued by the country
you represent is also required.
These documents often take some time to renew. Please do not
delay!
Registration Fees:
The registration fee for World Team ‘10 skydivers is USD 2700.
For this fee, each team member will receive a package that includes
double-occupancy accommodations with breakfast for 11 nights, transfers
between the airport and hotel in Bangkok, domestic transportation
between Bangkok and Udon Thani, daily transport between the hotel
and DZ, welcome and farewell dinners, all jumps, T-shirts, goodie
bag with event memorabilia, and the opportunity to make skydiving
history.
The package also includes use of World Team’s high-tech equipment,
including a two-stage oxygen system (in-aircraft and in freefall),
an aerial communication system, and an ultra modern video review
system. The world class Camera Team members will record all skydives
with HD video and document them with high-quality digital stills.
The Royal Thai Air Force will provide a fully equipped DZ and affordable
packing services by RTAF riggers.
All
fee payments should be paid to the participant’s Sector Captains
or their designated administrator.
Accompanying
Personnel: Team members are welcome to have friends and
family members accompany them during World Team events. For a reduced
registration fee, a complete package will be provided for accompanying
persons that includes everything except the skydiving-related activities
and some of the items in the goodie bag. A World Team T-shirt is
included for all accompanying persons.
A
registration fee of USD 1575 applies to all accompanying persons
who are 16 years old and over as of 18 January 2010. Reduced fees
for accompanying children are as follows: USD 825 for children 12-15
years old or a child of any age requiring an extra bed; USD 400
for children 3-11 years old sharing a bed with their parents. There
is no charge for children 0-2 years old. In order to negotiate the
best prices for all of World Team’s needs, registration fees
cannot be a-la-carte or day-by-day.
All
accompanying persons, even children, must register!
On the Registration Form, they should choose the Sector of the participant/skydiver
they are accompanying. Registration fees for persons accompanying
team members should be paid to the team member’s Sector Captain
or their designated administrator.
Financial Commitment:
Within 30 days of being selected, each World Team Member must submit
a minimum “registration deposit” of US$ 1000 to secure
their slot. The final payment of US$ 1700 must be paid no later
than 1 October 2009. For WT’10, the deadline for full payment
is very close to the deadline for the deposit, so team members are
encouraged to pay the full registration fee as one payment rather
than making two separate payments. This should save additional money-handling
fees.
